Starlight Children’s Foundation
The pain, loneliness and isolation endured by sick children can dominate their lives. They often miss out on the normal experiences healthy children take for granted. Many children will live with their condition all their lives, and for seriously ill children physical treatment is only part of the solution.
Since 1988, the Starlight Children’s Foundation has provided innovative programs designed to lift the spirits of sick children and their families when and where they need it most, no matter what their illness. Delivered both in and out of hospital, Starlight’s programs provide a positive distraction to children, their siblings and their parents.
Starlight’s diverse programs provide normal opportunities for play, connection, laughter and happiness both now and in the future. Our programs include:
Starlight Escapes – offer families a much needed respite from the stress of a child’s illness with a fun family experience.
Starlight Wishgranting – life impacting experiences for chronically and seriously ill children.
Starlight Express Rooms – entertainment havens in major paediatric hospitals where Captain Starlight helps children and their families escape the stress and trauma of hospital life.
Starlight Fun Centres – mobile entertainment units wheeled to children’s hospital beds to give children the freedom to play what they want, when they want from their bedside.
Livewire – A secure, members’ only online community for young people aged 10-21 living with serious illness, or disability.
The Great Escape Charter Company are proud to be one of the IT Fund Auction partners for the Sydney & Melbourne event in 2009.
Variety Club WA
The Variety Club Bash is a wonderful event that has raised more than $6 million dollars for WA’s sick, disadvantaged and disabled children over the past 15 years.
Each year The Great Escape Charter Company donates a Rowley Shoals Underwater Adventure for 2 people to Car 34 to auction/raffle as part of their amazing fundraising efforts. On average Car 34 manages to raise around $10,000 from our support alone. If you would also like to assist Car 34 with their fundraising please contact Greg Swinbourn or visit the Variety Club website.
Kyle Andrews Foundation
In early 1998 a young Broome boy undergoing treatment for leukaemia at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) in Perth WA, had a dream of bringing some of his young friends from Ward 3B to Cable Beach in Broome so that, in his words,
“they might feel better”
The Great Escape Charter Company takes great pleasure in welcoming the Kyle Andrews Camp kids and helpers onboard for the day whilst in Broome. If you are able to assist the Kyle Andrews Foundation in any way, please click on the logo to visit their website.
Royal Flying Doctor Service
The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia is a not-for-profit charitable service providing aeromedical emergency and primary health care services together with communication and education assistance to people who live, work and travel in regional and remote Australia.
Due to the remote location and harsh terrain of the Kimberley, The Great Escape Charter Company are huge supporters of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Our crew are regularly creating new games and challenges to help raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. To assist further please click on the logo to make a donation online.
